With the three cricketersCricket Association of Bengal chief and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain Gautam Gambhir and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took the stage on the club lawns, which was packed to capacity. The discussion, moderated by cricket author Boria Majumdar, was a lively, humorous and witty one – just perfect for a Lovely Saturday evening – yet it also focused on the serious business of the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup. The cricketers were candid and open and, above all, they too had fun, as did the audience.

When the floor was turned over to the audience, Sourav was asked of Dhoni should come up the order? “Not really,” came Dada’s quick reply. “Dhoni is best suited for the No. 6 position because I see him as a finisher.”

Gautam Gambhir was asked what the chances were of KKR winning the IPL in 2016? The captain just said that they “go out there one more time and do it for the city… The love and support that I have got here has just been amazing”.

The evening ended on a high note with Bravo entertaining the crowd by showing off his off-the-pitch moves, singing and grooving to his own song, “Champion”.

On March 11, the day before the Kolkata event, the Perfect Strokes barrel rolled into Mumbai with Mahela Jayawardene, Virender Sehwag and Dwayne Bravo.

For Bravo, the “Perfect moment was four years ago winning the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka”, and taking that last catch which he calls the “Champion” catch.RSBS Event- Mumbai Pic

Mahela’s “perfect moment” was when Perera hit a straight boundary over Ashwin’s head to help Sri Lanka win the 2014 T20 World Cup. It was a “sweet moment” for the Lankans.

The first of the “Perfect Strokes” tour kicked off in Delhi on March 9. The panel, comprising Robin Uthappa, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, was moderated by Rajdeep Sardesai.

To a question by Rajdeep whether a T20 match can be won by a single player, Gambhir replied :

“T20 cannot be won by a single player, it’s a collective effort”, while Sehwag was of the opinion that India had a 99% chance of winning 2016 edition of the World T20. Robin Uthappa’s formula for a team to win? Team effort and momentum are the key components, he felt.
